- Read 1 Corinthians 1:10–13. Where do you see “I follow X” attitudes in today’s church world, and how can they quietly creep into your own heart?
- Paul pleads that there be “no divisions” but that the church be “perfectly joined together.” What does unity look like in practice without demanding that everyone agree on every secondary issue?
- Think of an area where you have strong convictions (theological, stylistic, etc.). How can you hold those convictions firmly and still treat brothers and sisters who disagree with grace and humility?
- Read 1 Corinthians 1:18–25. Why do you think the message of the cross still sounds foolish or offensive to many people today? Share an example if you have one.
- How does remembering the “shock” of the cross in the first century (shame, scandal) change the way you think about wearing a cross or talking about Jesus’ death with others?
- Read 1 Corinthians 1:26–29. When you “look around” at the church—and at your own story—how do you see God choosing the “foolish” and “weak” to show His power?
- In what specific ways has Jesus become your “wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption” (vv. 30–31)? Which of those four do you most need to rest in right now, and why?
- Practically, what would it look like this week for you to “boast in the Lord” instead of in yourself—a success, a gift, a leader, or a label? What one step can your group take together to live as one church around one cross?
