Christian Preschool Director

Primary Function

The Preschool Director is the administrator of the licensed child care center and is responsible for its overall management and ensuring strict compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Main Job Responsibilities

  1. Maintain accurate records and bookkeeping to ensure we are fully compliant
  2. Oversees all staff and volunteers and their required trainings
  3. Ensure adequate staff coverage when one of more staff members is absent
  4. Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with staff and volunteers on curriculum and activities
  5. Oversee the planning and implementing daily curriculum and engaging activities that promote child growth and development
  6. Provide support to staff and families on the learning and well-being of children
  7. Partner with the GCCA Committee to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in operations and learning.
  8. Develop and administer GCCA policies that ensure compliance with all licensing requirements (Title 5 and Title 22 rules and regulations).
  9. Attend and provide current reports to the GCCA Committee at their quarterly meetings
  10. Submit timely reports to required agencies

Other Responsibilities

  1. Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence. Weekend training may apply.
  2. Health & Safety Training: Teachers may need 16 hours of training per Health and Safety Code Section 1596.866.
  3. May assist in preparing and serving meals and snacks
  4. Perform other duties as assigned and/or regulated by local agencies
  5. Supervise all school staff, and ensure compliance with licensing requirements for staff.
  6. Report directly to GCCA Committee and Serve as a non-voting participant in the Program and Finance Subcommittees commend corrective action to the Personnel Subcommittee for staffing issues.
  7. Implement GCCA Committee requirements into the school program.
  8. Adhere to GCC’s Statement of Faith and child protection policy
  9. Understands the requirements of Mandated Reporter Laws and demonstrates the importance of informing their supervisor/manager of any concerns about children and suspicions of child abuse and/or neglect.

Qualifications

  1. Criminal record clearance and health screening
  2. Option 1: Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education AND minimum one year experience as a teacher or director in a licensed child care center
  3. Option 2: Have at least 12 units in Early Childhood Education AND four years experience as a teacher in a licensed child care center
  4. Option 3: Current Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or higher, issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing
  5. At least 18 years old involving direct child supervision.

  1. Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred

Christian Preschool Teacher

Primary Function

Preschool Teacher is responsible to plan, implement and engage children with Christian-based curriculum appropriate for their age level development, mental and physical. Responsible for maintaining a safe, healthy and clean environment for all children in accordance with local regulations and preschool policies.

Main Job Responsibilities

  1. Planning and implementing daily curriculum and engaging activities that promote child growth and development
  2. Maintaining a structured classroom routine
  3. Setting up and arranging supplies and equipment used in the classroom or other environments for instruction and projects
  4. Supervise the use of the restrooms
  5. Collaborating with staff and families to support each child’s learning and well-being
  6. Supervise, and support associate and assistant teachers and volunteers
  7. Recording child information and completing classroom forms and keeping those forms up-to-date.
  8. Must comply with Title 5 and Title 22 rules and regulations at all times.
  9. Understands the requirements of Mandated Reporter Laws and demonstrates the importance of informing their supervisor/manager of any concerns about children and suspicions of child abuse and/or neglect.

Other Responsibilities

  7. Adhere to the church’s Statement of Faith and child protection policy

Qualifications

  1. Have at least 6 months of work experience in a licensed childcare center or comparable program under qualified supervision.
  2. Criminal record clearance and health screening

Education Requirements

  1. Complete 12 post secondary semester (or equivalent quarter) units in early childhood education/child development with passing grades at an accredited/approved institution. Courses must cover child growth/development, child/family/community, and program/curriculum. Have at least 6 months of work experience in a licensed childcare center or comparable program under qualified supervision.
  2. In the absence of #1 above, hold a valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with a preschool age-level endorsement from the CDA National Credentialing Program.
  3. In the absence of #1 above, have a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit, Teacher Permit, or Master Teacher Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Christian Preschool Teacher’s Aid

Primary Function

A Teacher’s Aide is responsible for assisting our preschool teachers in creating a joyful, faith-filled space for young children. Under the direct supervision of a Fully Qualified Teacher, the Aide will support daily activities, care for preschoolers, and contribute to our Christian community.

Main Job Responsibilities

  1. Assist teachers in caring for and supervising preschool-age children
  2. Maintaining a structured classroom routine
  3. Setting up and arranging supplies and equipment used in the classroom
  4. Help with tasks like bathroom assistance, napping supervision, and activity setup under teacher direction
  5. Must comply with Title 5 and Title 22 rules and regulations at all times

Other Responsibilities

  1. Health & Safety Training: Teachers Aide may need 16 hours of training per Health and Safety Code Section 1596.866.
  2. May need to assist preparing and serving meals and snacks
  3. Report directly to Preschool Director or an assigned Fully Qualified Teacher
  4. Adhere to the church’s Statement of Faith and child protection policy
  5. Be flexible to work different shifts/hours as needed

Qualifications

  1. Have verifiable experience working with toddlers to preschool age children in secular or faith-based environment
  2. Have verifiable experience working or volunteering under supervision
  3. A passion for caring and nurturing children
  4. Criminal record clearance and health screening

Education Requirements

  1. Option 1: 6 semester units in early childhood education/child development (This qualifies for Fully Qualified Teacher’s Aide)
  2. Option 2: Enrolled in at least 2 units per semester/quarter in early childhood education/child development, working toward 6 units total
  3. If under age 18, a high school diploma OR current enrollment in an accredited occupational program
