Our History

Established in 1972 with a mission to evangelize to the Chinese community in Chinatown. 於1972年創會, 異象是在新華埠向華人社區傳福音。
Rev. Yun Lao Cho conducted our first Sunday Service at an Italian Church building in Chinatown on the first Lord’s Day of January 1972 with 20 brothers and sisters (aka: our Founders). 曹潤流牧師在意大利基督會借來華埠堂所主持1972年一月之第一個主日崇拜, 共有20位兄姊(即創始人)出席。
Began our first Friday fellowship for all ages named “Agape” in 1978. 1978年開辦第一個不限年齡之 “主愛助道團”
Started Chinese School as an outreach program for children and parents every Saturday. 開辦週六免費中文學校, 為要向兒童及其家長作外展活動。
Formed a committee to search a new church building and launched a monthly Church Building Fund Offering. 成立新堂研究籌備委員會及每月為籌備新堂奉獻。
Purchased our current church property in Monterey Park for $515,000. Established a Board of Trustees with Deacons George Lee, Herbert Lee and John Fung, Pastor Scheng Kam and Brother David Wong as members in 1988. 1988年蒙神帶領以$515,000購得蒙市現址為教堂, 並成立產權信託委員會, 推選李仲彪、李慶生、馮劍雄三位執事, 金城牧師及黃汝光弟兄為委員。
Conducted the first Sunday Service and 17th church anniversary celebration in our new Monterey Park facilities on January 8, 1989. Fellowship lunch was served after each service since then. 1989年一月八日在蒙市新址第一次舉行十七週年感恩主日崇拜, 會後設有 午膳供應直至現在。
Became a chartered member of the national Southern Baptist Convention by way of the regional Los Angeles Southern Baptist Association in 1990. 1990年通過加入美南浸信會屬會羅省浸信會區聯會為會員堂。
Paid off the $515,000 mortgage loan; three years after purchasing our current church property. 感謝神恩能於三年將購堂$515,000之借款款項全數清還。
Published the First Edition of the Church By-Law in 1993. 1998年成立每週五舉行兒童訓練AWANA聚會。
Launched the AWANA program on Fridays in 1998. 在聖地牙哥區之LAWRENCE WELK RESAORT舉行全教會性退修會。
Held our first church-wide retreat in 1998 at the Lawrence Welk Resort in Escondido, San Diego. 感謝神蒙某機構奉獻本會全新講台一座, 並於按牧典禮前五天運到本會。
The Lord blessed the church with a donated brand new hydraulic pulpit five days before Pastor Chow’s ordination ceremony in 1998. 舉行首次執事退修會, 會中議定教會之1—3—5年教會增長計劃, 厘定教會 未來五年之異象及方向。
Held the first Deacons Retreat at which our “1-3-5 Year Church Growth Plan” was formed. The plan served as a navigational and visionary guide for growing CGBC over the next five years. 舉行首次執事退修會, 會中議定教會之1—3—5年教會增長計劃, 厘定教會 未來五年之異象及方向。
Published the Second Edition of Church By-Law in 2000. 2000年完成及公佈第二版經修改之教會會章。
Launched three target goals on Thanksgiving Day 2001 for our 30 Year anniversary: A) Separate English and Chinese Sunday worship services; B) Sunday worship attendance reaching 120; C) Raise $300,000 for church expansion. 2001年感恩節及慶祝教會成立30週年感恩崇拜中宣佈進行三項目標(一) 中 英文語分堂主日崇拜, (二) 主日崇拜人數增至120位 (三) 籌募擴堂基金 $300,000。
Conducted the first Memorial Sunday Service in 2002 to remember members who were received by the Lord. 2002年舉行首次懷緬已故本會會友及追思主日崇拜。
Began a monthly English contemporary worship in 2004 in order to outreach to the younger generation. 2004開辦每月一次之英語現代音樂崇拜以期吸引年青一代參加。
Established two regional cell groups in 2004, one in English and another in Cantonese. 2004年開辦中英二個小組團契。
Over 20 youths and children attended the 2004 Billy Graham Crusade. 2004年超過20位青年及兒童參加葛培理佈道大會聚會。
Published the Third Edition of Church By-Law in 2005. 2005年修改及公佈第三版經修改之教會會章。
Established a Church Expansion Feasibility Study Committee (CEFSC) in 2005. 2005年成立教會擴展研究委員會。
Celebrated our 35th anniversary and homecoming in January 2006. 2006年一月慶祝教會成立35週年及邀請舊會友回家運動。
Started an outreach program with a Chinese School on Sundays in 2006. 2006年開辦週日免費中文學校作外展節目。
Started separate English and Chinese worship services in 2007. 2007年開始中英語分堂崇拜。每月二次作試辦
Our youths built a full-size storage shed in our parking lot in 2007. 2007年教會青年組在停車場建造一間儲存小屋。
Our youths joined the City-To-City (C2C) youth mission program with several churches in the San Gabriel Valley in 2008. 2007年教會青年小組參加CITY- TO- CITY(C2C)青年傳道事工。該項事工 由南加州數間教會一起聯合合作之聚會。
29 youths and adults participated in the Baja mission trip to Mexico and donated a financial gift for 50 chairs to a new church there. 2008年29位會眾參加短期宣教活動, 地點為BAJA墨西哥並由本會資助其 中一間教會購置50張座椅。
Remodeled our kitchen with a financial gift from the Dr. and Deacon David Wong Memorial Fund in 2008. 2008年教會謝謝黃汝光博士執事府上各人捐助紀念黃博士基金, 教會通過 用作翻新殘舊廚房以作紀念。
Conducted quarterly prayer walks at Sunday worship services to remind our congregation about the power of prayers in our daily living. 每季舉行一次之環繞教會步行祈禱作為主日崇拜一部份, 以此提醒會眾對 祈禱之大能及養成祈禱生活化。
14 youths attended the Highland mission trip helping the locals in 2009. 2009年14位青年會眾參加Highland Mission之短宣活動及幫助當地有需要 的家庭。
We renovated our front entrance, added a shower facility, and replaced our roof in 2009. 2009年將教會之入口處翻新及加設冷熱水沖身設備, 作青年事工之需要之 一部份, 並更換部份屋頂及修葺教堂內之座椅等工程。
22 brothers and sisters attended God’s Plan for Sharing (GPS) conference in 2010. 2010年22位兄姊響應美南浸聯會之GPS “分享神計劃”的會議及訓練。
Donated 60 love buckets with extra love funds to Haiti in 2010. 2010年為海地災民捐出及包裝60桶愛的物品。
12 youths attended the City of Clovis mission trip helping the locals in 2010. 2010年12位年青會眾參加CITY OF CLOVIS之短宣活動及幫助當地有需要 家庭。
A new library was officially opened in 2010 and book fairs were held regularly on Sundays. 2010年教會新的圖書室正式整理完畢及定期介紹新書。
Held our first community-wide “block party” in the nearby Bella Vista Park to outreach to our local community in 2010. 2010年教會舉行第一次在鄰近之公園之社區日作為外展活動, 效果非常良 好。
Established Emmanuel Adult Fellowship on Fridays in 2011 for Chinesespeaking seekers, new believers and believers. The fellowship focused on sharing the gospel and topical bible studies. 2011年成年部增加另一 “以馬內利” 成人團契, 每週五舉行, 以粵語為主, 主旨是鼓勵粵語的成人有團契生活, 內容有分享、見証、祈禱和研經等。
Another major renovation was completed in 2011. We retrofitted most windows, repainted the church exteriors and replaced molded walls. 2011年教會完成了另一大工程, 更換所有防熱窗門, 更新所有外牆及修理 內牆等使教會換然一新。
Launched a $40,000 donation campaign in 2012 to finance a new parking lot pavement project. 2012年教會另一目標是要翻新停車場, 需要款項為$40,000, 募捐為此項工 程奉獻正在進行中。
