ABOUT GOD…

1. We believe in the one and only true God who eternally exists in three persons, which is the Trinity of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

2. We believe that God is the God of the universe and everything in it.  He is the Father of believers and that He is fatherly toward all men.

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST…

3. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of all mankind, the Word became flesh, born of the virgin Mary, crucified on the cross, shed His blood to redeem the sins of men, was buried and resurrected three days after He died, ascended to heaven and will return to judge the living and the dead.

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT…

4. We believe the Holy Spirit convicts man of sin and righteousness, gives faith, regenerates, indwells, guides, sanctifies and empowers the believers for godly living and service.

ABOUT THE BIBLE…

5. We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God.  We also believe that the Bible is inerrant, and is the all-sufficient authority in matters of faith, doctrine and Christian living.

ABOUT MANKIND…

6. We believe that because of the fall of our first ancestors, Adam and Eve, due to their disobedience to God, mankind cannot save themselves.

ABOUT SALVATION…

7. We believe that all sinners are saved by grace through faith.  We believe that salvation is freely given by God to those who believe and accept Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior, to admit that they have sinned, have repented, have been born again of the Holy Spirit, and thus become the children of God.

ABOUT BAPTISM…

8. Baptism is by immersion according to biblical teaching for those who believe and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal savior.  Baptism is clearly understood to mean the complete immersion of a believer in water according to the New Testament of the Bible.  It is the believer’s witness before the world and signifies that the believer is buried with Jesus Christ and resurrected with Him.

ABOUT THE LORD’S SUPPER…

9. The Lord’s Supper is the partaking of the bread and the cup by baptized believers in remembrance of Jesus Christ, who broke His body; shed His blood for sinners; and in anticipation of His second coming.

ABOUT MARRIAGE

10. We believe marriage is a sacrament or ordinance of the Church. It has been ordained and instituted by God. This church defines and endorses “marriage” as the covenantal union of one man and one woman in which such union is a lifetime commitment.  We reaffirm our historic and consistent support of the biblical definition of marriage.  Accordingly, this church, our pastors, staff and members will not participate in same sex unions on CGBC premises, nor shall our property or resources be used for such purposes.
